Meet our E-Board:

Sophie Iannone

Sophie is a Senior studying Environmental Studies and Sustainability with a minor in Urban Planning. She hopes to earn a law degree and someday write environmental policy. After joining the SSC in 2018 and falling in love with the club’s mission and members, Sophie served as the club’s Volunteer Coordinator for the 2019-2020 school year. Sophie is passionate about intersectional environmentalism and hopes to create a fun, accessible and inclusive space for all people who value nature and conservation. She is counting down the days until the next general meeting!

Vice President:

Tony Olshansky

Tony is a Senior studying Sustainable Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. He is the Vice President for Spartan Sierra Club, and joined the club as a freshman. His goal is to create meaningful experiences that connect people to nature in order to motivate them to advocate for environmental protection, and conservation. He’s also a big fan of reading, folk rock, and Michigan’s State Parks!

Service Chair:

Gabi Meitler

Hi I’m Gabi Meitler and i’m the SSC’s service chair. I’m currently a senior studying environmental biology/zoology with spanish and ESS minors. This is my third year in the club and i have loved every second of it! My goal this year while being the Service chair is to follow the great examples of the people who have held this position before me and find new volunteer opportunities to keep our club active and creating positive environmental change in our community

Education Chair:

Lydia Mehlhose

Lydia is a senior studying Environmental Studies and Sustainability. She joined the club her sophomore year and just recently became the education chair! She is so happy to be apart of the club and cannot wait for our annual Winter Rustic trip. Some of her favorite things include animals, rock n roll and thrift shopping. 


Audrie Adams

This is Audrie's second year as treasurer for the Spartan Sierra Club. She studies Environmental Studies ans Sustainability with an additional major in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. She is so thankful to have involved herself with such genuine, adventurous people and really found her niche within Sierra Club, as most other people have too. Her future plans are to work as a white water raft guide and hopefully extend her guiding career in national parks. 

Social Media/Marketing Chair: 

Mary Kate Bejma

Mary Kate is a Sophomore studying Landscape Architecture with a minor in Environmental Studies and Sustainability. This is her first year on E-Board but she has been in the club since the start of her freshman year. Her goal for this position is to help make the club more diverse and help manage as the club is exponentially growing.  In her spare time Mary Kate loves all things art her two favorites are Photography and Ceramics. Her future career goal is to implement sustainable change into Landscape designs including green roofs and solar parks

Co-Excursion Chair:

Rachel Sanders

Rachel is a Senior studying Construction Management. She has been part of Sierra Club since freshman year, and for the past two years she has served on E-Board. Rachel has extensive backpacking experience, and also enjoys rock climbing, white water sports, and fishing. Her other interests include cooking, wood working, and sustainable construction.

Co- Campaign Chair:

Marshall Weimer

Marshall is a dual major junior studying Fisheries & Wildlife and Chinese. He is currently serving the position of Campaign Manager, through which he has begun a campaign against the Back Forty Mine on the Menominee River in Upper Michigan. Marshall joined the club in 2017 through the club’s various lobby days. He likes extreme metal, wildflowers, political discourse, getting lost outdoors, cooking all the time. Most of his committee likes him.

Nick Srodes

Nick is a junior studying Plant Biology and Studio Art. He joined SSC his first year at MSU and is super stoked to be serving on the E-Board. Nick aspires to use visual art as a catalyst for action on environmental and social issues while maybe getting a stable job in environmental research. When he’s not outdoors, he’s usually finding reasons to be and is excited to use a passion of his to bring people together.
